JOHN YOON

The Professional:

With a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Michigan, I was working as a graphic designer for a press when I happened to see an article on Evidence-Based Design in the waiting room of a dental office. The piece highlighted the works of architects and interior designers using data to inform design innovations that advanced wellbeing. It was the “wow” moment that led me to a master’s in architecture program, literally within weeks.  My strengths and interests in design aesthetics, nerdy number analysis, and preventive healthcare met together at the center of three Venn diagram circles. I continue to approach architectural problems from a multi-disciplinary perspective to find unique solutions and options.

The Inner Rogue:

Always on the lookout for the undiscovered, hole-in-the-wall Thai food and Pho joints. When not hunting for noodles, I enjoy racket sports and have been playing in city tennis and ping-pong leagues since arriving in Denver a few years ago (up next, pickleball).  Recently, all my free time has been going into a project that I have hatched up to assimilate and blend in as a native Denverite.  I’ve traded in my east-coast sedan for a high-mileage SUV to build into an overlanding rig and travel the Rockies with my bride as my co-pilot.
